Overview

No — dealers cannot lower the price once your reserve is met, except for undisclosed moderate or major issues.

Key points

  • Minor condition issues (light scratches, small dents, normal wear) do not affect the final price.

  • Moderate or major issues (engine trouble, accident damage, bald tires, transmission slips) may result in a fair adjustment.

  • Dealers cannot use retail pricing for adjustments — only reasonable wholesale repair rates apply.

Important notice

So when you upload your car’s details, please be as transparent as possible:

  • Always disclose any damages upfront.

  • Be sure to disclose any previous paintwork. Each repaint panel can cost dealers $500–$800, depending on the vehicle. Hidden paintwork surprises are one of the most common reasons for price adjustments at drop-off.

In short

Price adjustments only happen for undisclosed major issues. Transparency — especially around paintwork and prior damage — helps protect your offer.
